East Bay Pediatrics mourns the passing of Dr. Mary Jones on November 21, 2020. Many of you have known her from over 20 years of practice at East Bay Pediatrics. Dr. Jones was the first female full-time physician at East Bay Pediatrics, joining the practice in 1982 and changing the dynamic of the practice for years to come. She touched the lives of so many patients, parents and staff with her sweet smile and calm manner. She spent countless hours going the extra mile for her patients. There is no question that her patients’ needs always came first.
In 2014, Dr. Jones redirected her work to become the clinical director for Katie’s Clinic, the Rett Syndrome Clinic at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. Her passion for understanding the science behind the syndrome has led to significant improvements in the health and well-being of these girls. Dr. Jones will continue to impact Rett Syndrome patients and their families from around the world through the Katie Nues Foundation.
Although Dr. Jones has not been at East Bay Pediatrics for several years, we still consider her family and will miss her very much. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, her family had a small ceremony to spread her ashes and will hold a virtual service on her birthday, February 8, 2021. Virtual services will be held by Zoom on Saturday, February 6 at 1pm. Please register in advance for the event using this link.
Please see her official obituary for more details about her amazing life and for information about services.
