Corona Virus is a member of a large family of respiratory viruses that is causing severe respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough and pneumonia. The virus was first discovered in Wuhan, China and is novel in that it has been found to be transmitted from animal to human. Today, over 50 people have died from the viral infection in Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province in China.
Currently, there are 5 individuals in the United States who have contracted the virus and in all cases, these individuals have traveled to areas initially affected with the Corona virus in Wuhan, China.
Symptoms of the Corona Virus can include respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough and respiratory distress. More severe symptoms can include, pneumonia, kidney failure and even death.
You can protect yourself and others by not traveling with a cold or fever. Keep your children home from school if they are ill with fever, cough, sneezing or cold symptoms.
Regular handwashing is a must! Cover your cough and dispose of tissues in waste containers.
If you have not already done so, please make sure you and your children get your flu vaccine.
